This 4 days desert tour from Marrakech takes you on a beautiful and exciting journey through the south of Morocco. You will travel across the High Atlas Mountains, visit old villages and kasbahs, and see amazing natural places like valleys and canyons.

One of the first stops is Ait Ben Haddou, a famous old village made of clay, and a place where many movies were filmed. You will also visit Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Morocco.” The tour continues through the Dades Valley and the high walls of the Todra Gorge.

On the second day, you will arrive in the Sahara Desert near Merzouga, where you will ride a camel across the sand dunes and watch the sunset. You will spend the night in a desert camp, enjoying dinner, music, and the stars.

The trip ends with a drive through the beautiful Draa Valley, full of palm trees and small villages, before returning to Marrakech on the fourth day.

Itinerary of Marrakech desert tour 4 days

Day 1Marrakech – High atlas Mountains - Air ben Haddou - Ouarzazate - Rose Valley - Dades Valley

Fist day in this 4 days desert tour from Marrakech, departure in the morning to Ouarzazate crossing the high Atlas “Tizi – N-Tichka” (2260m), we will have stops to visit and take pictures of the beautiful landscapes of different colors and Berber villages. Then we will visit the ancient Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou to discover its wonders. After lunch, we will continue driving through the Dadès Valley making a stop in Ouarzazate to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt and the city of Roses passing by the fascinating palace of Skoura. We arrive in Dadès Valley in the evening for dinner at the overnights at hotel.

Day 2Dades Valley - Tighir - Todgha Gorges - Tinjdad - Erfoud - Merzouga desert

After breakfast, we will start our trip to the Sahara desert of Merzouga. Before leaving, we will visit the Dadès Gorges, to continue driving to Tinghir. There will be free time to walk, take pictures and enjoy the scenery. Then we will go to the city of Tinjdad where we will stop for lunch, and then we will go to the desert of Merzouga where we will explore the dunes on the back of camels to see the beautiful desert sunset. We will arrive at the camp where a unique dinner will be waiting for us accompanied by local nomadic Berber musicians playing traditional music with drums and dancing around a bonfire. Day 3 Merzouga desert - Draa Valley - Ouarzazate

Before sunrise, guests are awakened to climb a nearby dune and watch the sun rise over the Sahara. After a camel ride back to the edge of the desert, breakfast is served and a quick shower is offered at a local guesthouse. The return journey begins through Rissani, where, on market days, the traditional souk comes to life with traders from the region. The route continues through the remote villages of Alnif and Tazarine, and eventually arrives in Nkob, a quiet town known for its adobe kasbahs and proximity to the Jbel Saghro mountains. From there, the road follows the Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river valley, lined with palm groves, crumbling fortresses, and tiny oases. By late afternoon or early evening, the group reaches Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight stay in a hotel or riad.

Day 4Ouarzazate - Marrakech

The final day begins with breakfast in Ouarzazate, followed by a return drive through the High Atlas Mountains. Depending on timing, there may be optional stops at the Atlas Film Studios or the Kasbah of Tifoultoute before the ascent. The drive back offers a new perspective on the mountainous terrain and may include stops in small Berber villages for photos or refreshments. By mid to late afternoon, the tour arrives back in Marrakech, where travelers are dropped off at their accommodations, concluding the 4 days desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga desert.
